Your Chinese Name
Mimi explained to me that the way you pronounce your name in Chinese is Oy-wah which means "lovable". How perfect is that? You are most definitely a lovable baby girl.

Blowing Raspberries
You are the cutest copy cat ever! We would blow raspberries (spit bubbles) at you to make you laugh and in no time you were mimicking us. Funniest thing, Paw Paw went to give you a kiss and you blew raspberries and spit all over his glasses!!
Baby magazines say that most babies start this at 5 months, but you began this at 3 1/2 months. Blowing raspberries is a skill that helps you learn how to use your mouth, tongue, and lips together to eventually form words and begin talking. I can't wait to hear your first word..."momma"? (fingers crossed)

Shots
Mommy couldn't bear it when you got your first shots. I know that they are necessary for you to stay healthy, but it hurts me to see you in pain. I would much rather take the shots for you. When the nurse gave you the shots, Mommy looked away and made a painful facial expression. Daddy jokingly said that Mommy would have to stay in the waiting room from now on. You are defnitely a trooper. You probably cried for a couple of seconds and that was that. The tweety bandaid was put on and it was over before you knew it! The saying "This will hurt me more than it hurts you" couldn't have been further from the truth.
Bodacious Belcher
You are such an amazing baby! After we feed you, we sit you up and say "okay, do your thing!" and right on command - you burp. You're not like most babies who take a while. Thank you for being so perfect.

Hard Headed
The funniest thing happened last nite. Aunt Ber was holding you and I was sitting right next to her. We both went in to kiss you and "BANG" our heads collided! OuCH...from now on we decided to call it when we give you a kiss. A few seconds later Aunt Ber says, "Alright, I'm going in...muaw!"

Ava Island
Did you know that you own an island all to yourself?? Mimi has designated the kitchen island all for you. She won't allow anyone to put anything on the island except for your bottles, bottle brushes, sanitizing storage, cold pack, etc. You are one lucky, spoiled little princess. We love you!
Ava's Song
(Sung to the tune of "I'm a Little Tea Pot")
Hi my name is Ava, I'm so cute,
All I do is eat, sleep, and poop,
When you change my diaper do it fast,
Cuz I'll poop again and give you a blast!

Time with Nana
You got to spend time with Nana over the last couple of weekends. She saved your butt (literally)! Your little tushy had a rash and Nana knew just what to do. She washed you down with mild Dial and that did the trick. You were good as new. She is our 'manual' when we are unsure of what to do. Nana loves you to pieces. You should see her ginormous smile when we take you to visit her. When you are with her we know you are in good hands.
Buddha-ful Baby
You have been eating so well and are putting on a few ounces! Everyone loves kissing your chubby cheeks and the wrinkles in your arms and legs are so cute. It makes mommy happy to see that you are so healthy. You are without a doubt one 'buddha-ful' baby.

1st Pediatrician Appt
You had your first pedi today!! (Pediatrician appt that is...hehe) Dr. Stabe had nothing but great things to say about you. Most breast fed babies do not gain weight as fast as you have. You are averaging an oz per day and currently weigh 6 lbs and measure 20 in! She asked if you were focusing your eyes yet and I told her you have been doing that since you were born =) Daddy and I asked Dr. Stabe ALOT of questions so we can take great care of you. We like this doctor because she is patient and seems to genuinely care about you as her patient. She is so pleased with you that it is unnecessary for you to have a 2 wk check up and will not have another until 1 month. We are so blessed that you are so happy & healthy.

Hiccups
You have been hiccupping the last couple of days. It reminds me of when you were in mommy's tummy. You used to hiccup almost every other day. I would put my hand on my lower tummy and anticipate each beat....which would make me smile. Sometimes I miss you in my tummy. I loved to feel you kick and squirm. Even then you were such a good little baby. You never gave me symptoms that other mommy's-to-be have complained about such as nausea, heart burn, swollen ankles, loss of sleep, etc. I love you baby and hope that you always remain so well behaved.
Food Names
It's so cute how everyone has created 'food nicknames' for you. Mimi has called you her little spring roll and egg roll (when she is swaddling you). Aunt Kiki calls you her little "ly wong bow" (chinese bun). Aunt Ber calls you Ava Bean.

Memorable Moments
Hello Sweetpea,
There are so many memorable moments and you are only 4 days old. Pawpaw tried to kiss you and you sneezed in his face. It was quite funny. Pawpaw & Mimi love you sooo much. They worked so hard assembling the crib, organizer, and changing table that Nana got for you. They also set up the pack n play and bassinet.
When you sleep you love to stretch. Sometimes you stretch and stop midway, arms up above your head. It is so adorable!
I was changing you and as I put on your clean diaper you began to pee again! I had to start all over, but of course I didn't mind because I love you to pieces! You also farted on Aunt Ber as she was changing your diaper. It was oh so smelly!

Welcome to the World...
Dear Ava,
Welcome to the world sweetpea! Mommy & daddy love you more than you can imagine. I have waited 9 long months to meet you and here you are. You arrived on July 29, 2010 at 3:34pm weighing 5 lbs 15 oz measuring 19 3/4 inches long. You are the most beautiful creature I've ever laid eyes on. Even the nurses commented on how gorgeous you were. Thank God you are so healthy and happy!
Originally you were scheduled to be a c-section, however somehow you knew and began making your way the night before. Everything went smoothly. You were a good baby from the beginning not causing mommy alot of pain. You seldom cry unless you are hungry or need a diaper change.
You are already loved by so many people. There were many visitors awaiting your arrival at the hospital. Mommy, Daddy, Nana, Mimi, Pawpaw, Aunt Ber, Aunt Kiki, Jana, Barbie, Nan, Sarah, Lori, Donna.
You and mommy were discharged on Sat. around noon. Aunt Ber fastened you in the new carseat that she bought you and Mimi packed your things. Off we were to bring you home!!
